July 12th, 2006 at 03:54 am

I have one dog.She ismy baby.
She will be six years old this year.My
problem is fleas.
I have tried those spot treatment that
you can get any where.
They are not working.well may be for
a week or so.

I know the one you get from the vet
last for a month. If I take Chance to
vet I will have a vet bill plus paying
for those spot treatment.
I need something that work but,is a whold lot less costless. Can anyone
help me?
If you all have found something that
work for you please let me know?

Oh no! We just had a flea infestation in our house from our cat! I feel for you...they are hard to get rid of.

Go to the vet and buy the Advantage for your dog. Don't bother buying the cheaper versions at the local pet store. Trust me, they don't work! You will need to know the approximate weight of your dog for the proper Advantage treatment.

If you have fleas in your house, buy some Siphotrol at the vet. It's an area spray. Vacuum every day and throw the bags out right away. Vacuum your floor as well as your carpet, and make sure to get around the baseboards. Take care to vacuum your furniture and in closets and under the beds. At night, put dishes of water with a drop of dishsoap on the floor. Float candles in the water, or put lights on the floor near the dishes. Fleas are almost blind and will jump to the light and fall in the water and drown. This is how we could tell which room had the most fleas and when they were dying off.

It took us about 2 weeks to get rid of the fleas...good luck...I'll be sympathizing with you from my house!

Advantage does work. You can buy it from the vet and not pay a vet bill.

Daily vacuuming is key to flea control.

When you treat fleas in your home, they are in one of three stages egg, larva or adult. Most chemicals are targeting the larva and the adult...so the eggs will still hatch. Hense, a reinfestation within a couple of weeks.

Vacuum a half hour before you do any treatment- The vibration from the vacuum will cause alot of the eggs to hatch...and for a thorough treatment, retreat two weeks after the first...this will best guarantee eliminating all cycles of the fleas.

    Good luck!
